Platform UI

There are two main ways you can download data from the Carbon Arc Platform UI

Download CSV

Users can export data in CSV (Comma-Separated Values) format directly from Insight Builder. This supports offline analysis, reporting, and collaboration across tools like Excel, Google Sheets, or any data processing software.

CSV export is designed for flexibility and interoperability. Users can filter, refine, and extract relevant data directly from the platform to enable downstream workflows or custom reporting.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Navigate to Dataset View

  • Open Insight Builder
  • Select the relevant dataset
  • Apply filters (e.g., date range, geography, category)

2. Select Insights

  • Click Add Insights
  • Choose the metrics or dimensions to include

3. Download CSV

  • Click Download Data in the top-right corner of the data table
  • File will be downloaded in .csv format with all visible data and applied filters

Expected Outcome

Users receive a CSV file that reflects the exact table view in Insight Builder, including applied filters, selected insights, and visible metadata.

Common Use Cases

  • Offline Analysis: Open in Excel or Google Sheets for further analysis
  • Custom Reporting: Build presentations or stakeholder reports
  • Data Sharing: Send static exports to teammates or external partners
  • Backup: Maintain a local record of filtered data

Best Practices

  • Filter First: Limit data to what’s necessary before exporting
  • Format Review: Validate column headers and value formatting
  • File Naming: Use structured filenames to aid organization
  • Data Verification: Spot-check values before downstream use

Example Workflow

  1. Apply date and geography filters in Insight Builder
  2. Add relevant insights to the export
  3. Click Download Data
  4. Open file in Excel, build charts or pivot tables
  5. Share results with team or embed in reporting tools
